Building Palma Lofts
Memories of the past in harmony with the present
From the harmony between past and present, a new Cria+ Project is born. With the aim of addressing housing needs, this redevelopment project integrates the requirements regarding the location and local urban and landscape integration, drawing from the fact that it is adjacent to a square, a center of common life, in a historic cluster of the city of Lisbon.
As a result of the annexation of two buildings, this development forms the block bordered to the southeast by Rua Nova de Palma de Baixo and Largo de Palma, and to the southwest by Rossio de Palma. As one of the buildings dated back to 1887 and the other to the early 20th century, it was necessary to have a deep understanding of the materials and construction techniques from their respective periods in order to enhance the built heritage without compromising its historical and emotional value.
The vibrant colors of the façade and the wooden openings painted blue, with a limestone frame, ensure that the concepts of identity and memory merge into contemporary lines with the urban layout, fully integrating the new building into the surrounding landscape. The bright, functional, and welcoming interiors of the 12 studio apartments, all with a single floor and direct access to the exterior, contribute to a feeling of home refuge, inviting residents to fully experience it
Intended for permanent housing, preferably for young people, this project represents a significant contribution to the revitalization of this urban center.
